Design Victoria in conjunction with AGDA and DIA presents the Law and Design seminar
The 10 Commandments of Copyright, and other intellectual property laws
The Business Ready seminar series aims to build the business and export skills of Victoria's design sector to better compete locally and internationally.
Seminar Overview
Clients are increasingly asking to own copyright, and this can affect designers in different ways - from your right to full fees if clients use your work in ways beyond what was originally agreed, to your ability to collect debts.
For this interactive seminar, intellectual property lawyer Trevor Choy has distilled the legal complexities down to 10 basic concepts, aimed at issues directly facing designers today. Other intellectual property laws will also be briefly explained plus there is ample time for your questions to be answered.
The session will comprise:
o a 45 minute presentation on copyright and other intellectual property laws
o 45 minutes for questions and answers
Followed by refreshments and networking opportunities.
