Ronald Clyne exhibition (VIC)
When: 23rd February - 17th March 2007
From the 23rd of February until the 17th of March 2007, The Narrows in association with Smithsonian Folkways Recordings will be hosting an exhbition of the work of American modernist designer Ronald Clyne, who passed away in 2006.
Ronald Clyne (1925 -2006) was a freelance graphic artist who worked with various New York publishing houses producing book jacket designs. Between 1951 and 1981, alongside this ongoing work, he designed over 500 LP covers for Folkways Records, from some 2000 records released during the three-decade lifetime of this successful highly independent company. This exhibition highlights the significance of Clyne's distinctive contribution to American modernist graphic design and cultural history.
The exhibition is curated by John Nixon and Stephen Bram and features over 50 LP's plus an interview with Ronald Clyne (DVD 2005)
A copy of the interview appears on the Folkways website:
