Ninth AGDA National Biennial Awards (National)
When: 25th October - 26th October 2008
It’s that time again—awards time. Why, you might ask. Why are they important? Well, there’s the orgy of backslapping and promise of instant fame. There’s the ammunition behind your salary increase request. There’s the opportunity to pit your work against that of your peers. And of course there’s the big shindig at the end to celebrate it all.
But the most important reason for the AGDA Awards is to document and celebrate Australian graphic design every two years. It is a pertinent snapshot of where our industry has been and where it is headed. Without it there would be no dialogue, no history, no continuity, no critical analysis, no passing on of knowledge and no exchange of ideas.
So it’s time to get your entries ready for the 9th AGDA National Biennial Awards.
The awards weekend, to be held in Adelaide, will open with a cocktail party on Friday 24 October 2008. The Gala Presentation Dinner and Awards Exhibition will be held on the Saturday 25 October at the Adelaide Convention Centre overlooking the River Torrens. Sunday’s recovery will take the form of a leisurely lunch in one of Australia’s premier wine regions.
And for the first time the AGDA Awards event will be held in conjunction with the AGDA National Conference forming four days of design celebration.
I urge you to take this opportunity and be a part of your industry’s history and contribute to its future, and look forward to hosting you over four days in Adelaide, 23—26 October 2008.
