AGDA What Do They Do Anyway? AGM (QLD)
When: 2nd October 2008
Time: 06:15pm
It's AGM time again! Time to invite our members to participate in our local and broader design industry. Come along, share a drink and find out what AGDA has been doing this year.
And for 2009... Want us to organise a particular speaker? Want to suggest an event? Want more professional development?
Then come and tell us ... we want to know what you want to see in the 2009 calendar. If you would like to make a suggestion or ask a question prior to the AGM, you can email qld@agda.com.au or just let us know on the night and we will endeavour to cover all topics.
Our AGM has an official function... it is also an opportunity to discuss the work that has been done by council, understand where your money is being spent, have your say on council's planning for 2009, or you can join the council and make a difference to how our industry sector operates and is perceived.
There are many perceptions of the role of AGDA Councillor. These are the facts:
- You have to be prepared to do some work
- You don't get paid (it's voluntary)
- You have to be prepared to see the graphic design industry as it is (warts and all)
- There is an opportunity to meet people from around the world to many of your local peers
- It is a chance to engage with design education, there is opportunity to engage with government policy
- You will get back a lot more than you will ever put in.
Council positions are open to employee designers, employer designers, studio owners, junior designers, senior designers, female designers, male designers, young designers, old designers and middle aged designers. Many hands make light work they say. If you think you can make a difference to our growing industry sector, contact an AGDA Councillor or qld@agda.com.au
