Helvetica... The Movie and AGDA WA Annual General Meeting (WA)
When: 2nd October 2008
Time: 06:00pm
Venue: Upstairs at the Oxford Hotel, Cnr Oxford and Anzac Rds, Leederville
The AGDA WA Council is pleased to invite all members to join us for our 2008 Annual General Meeting. With several vacancies to fill, the council is "calling out" to members and the design community to get involved at a committee level and continue to promote design as a discipline, profession and cultural force.
AGDA provides leadership in the exchange of ideas and information, the encouragement of critical analysis and research, and the advancement of education and ethical practice.
We would love for you to attend and immediately after AGM formalities, Helvetica the movie will be screened, the first officially endorsed screening in Western Australia.
Helvetica looks at the proliferation of one typeface (which celebrated its 50th birthday in 2007) as part of a larger conversation about the way type affects our lives. The film is an exploration of urban spaces in major cities and the type that inhabits them, and a fluid discussion with renowned designers about their work, the creative process, and the choices and aesthetics behind their use of type.
The best things in life are FREE.
Naturally, there is no charge for members to attend the evening. Come along for a drink, enjoy the special screening and networking opportunities around the bar. And maybe even consider joining the AGDA committee...
