Designer Dinner 2 – Carby Tuckwell (NSW)
When: 21st May 2009
Time: 07:00pm
Carby Tuckwell is one of Australia’s most highly regarded and awarded designers. He fled his bucolic 'twigs and berries' childhood in the hills of northern NSW for the lure of Europe's sophistication, lived in Switzerland long enough to learn to speak fluent Helvetica and discover that 'a grid does not necessarily a good page make'.
Armed with a new-found respect for the relevance of twigs and berries in design, Carby relocated to Sydney in 1998 and joined Moon Design, playing a foundation role in establishing Moon’s design credentials. He has created identities for clients from airlines to theatre companies. Most recently he partnered up with the founder of Mambo, Dare Jennings to create Deus Ex Machina; a motorcycle company not afraid of showing it's surfing heritage, drawing design inspiration from the simple beauty of the motorcycle as the ultimate fusion and form and function. He believes that the philosophy of adding lightness has as much relevance in the pursuit of design perfection as it does in the pursuit of a nimble motorcycle.
Held in the private dining room of the Bayswater Braserie, the dinner is designed to be an intimate and informal opportunity to mix with your industry peers, to enjoy a great evening in a relaxed atmosphere.
Only twelve places are available, and they're limited to members only, so make sure you book early.
