Dr. Karel van der Waarde heads the design consultancy Van der Waarde Design Research, and is editor of Information Design Journal. 

Dr Van der Waarde is a leader in information design; a rapidly growing discipline that draws on typography, graphic design, photography, applied linguistics, psychology and other fields. 

Van der Waarde’s design research develops healthcare and medical information systems, instructions, forms, protocols, and information architecture for websites.

Dr. Karel van der Waarde is affiliated with the University of Delft and frequently publishes and lectures about visual information. He is editor of and moderator of the InfoDesign and InfoDesign-Café discussion lists.

Dr. Karel van der Waarde is visiting Australia to take part in a Design Thinking conference organised by Swinburne University of Technology, Faculty of Design.
