The Big Questions – An evening with Erik Adigard (NSW)
SORRY! – Event has been cancelled because of last minute changes... Apologies for any inconvenience
AGDA is excited to present cutting edge American designer and commentator, Erik Adigard in conversation with the editor of Open Manifesto journal, Kevin Finn. This will be a fascinating opportunity to join in what promises to be a lively discussion on the big questions facing graphic design in the 21st century.
Erik is a founder of the San Francisco design studio, M-A-D, a studio positioned at the intersection of communication design and multimedia arts. Among his many honours is the Chrysler Award for Innovation in Design. His body of work includes numerous visual essays, experimental websites, short documentaries, branding campaigns and exhibit commissions. He is a fascinating speaker with some provocative ideas about the future of graphic design.
Erik is a communication designer whose work stetches into domains as broad as identity systems, web sites, videos, visual essays, and book design as well as documentary films and installations in art museums and exhibitions. This last decade has seen Adigard nearly as involved with installations and art venues as he is with his admittedly broad design practice.
Adigard's most recent public work was AirXY, for the 2008 Architecture Biennale in Venice - a multimedia installation with interactive animation, sensors, haze, light and sound - AirXY explored space, architecture, media, and the human presence, extended by sensors and transformed by interfaces and networks.
